iPhone virus
I received what appears to be an Apple software alert that my iPhoneX has a virus. Do apple do this or would it be sent via email rather than a link on safari
I suspect it is a malware attack attempt - please confirm

Apple won't send those notices, simply because there are no known viruses that can affect an iPhone.
Its a scam, ignore it.
