Is it safe to delete /Private/Var/Log files?
I've got a file named "wifi.log.0" that is 20GB and another "wifi.log" file that is 7GB taking up space on my hard drive.
Are these safe to delete?
MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.14

In general, no. However those specific two are ok to delete.
The reason they have grown so large is certain to remain though, which means they will grow large again until the cause is found and corrected.
Non-Apple "cleaning" products are fond of indiscriminately deleting things that shouldn't be deleted, and log files are a popular example. macOS expects many of its components and files to be present. If they're not, the process(es) creating them will burden a Mac's performance in a futile effort to write to files that do not exist, leading to complaints of a slow Mac. Some might consider that a bug in macOS; after all a perfectly written routine should confirm the existence of a file before it attempts to write to it, but Apple can't possibly test every possible circumstance where someone or some thing interferes with what it was designed to do. Something to keep in mind.
Sure delete it. It is just a log file. Mojave still allows for access. Catalina 10.15 you do not have permission.
It affects your operation control click on it in the Trash>Put Back.
20GB is a large log file.
I saw that and in the thread he mentions "If you identify anything specific you think is in excess, then post the file (or files) and their sizes in the form, and someone will tell you if it is safe to delete it."
So I'm here asking if anyone knows if the files "wifi.log" can be deleted.
