IMessage Backdoor

I recently got added to a group chat with 2 random numbers. The first message was an image, containing what appears to be a homeless man and his dog. The man was holding a sign that read, "My wife made me choose between her and my dog." The other number replied with the crooked laughing crying emoji. I replied with," Who the **** are y'all?" they then told me a load of stuff that I don't know anything about. Having this being my first IPhone and me only being 14, i was concerned that they had a backdoor on IMessage, that they would use to install malware or ransomware. Is this possible?

iPhone 8, iOS 13

No, iMessage cannot execute any code and install anything to your device. iOS doesn’t allow for that via texts nor from web sites.

For iOS 9.3.5 or newer, the only means for anyone to install malware or spyware or other malicious code to your device would be by having direct physical access to your device, and a computer to hack it.
