Sounds like the update never installed, to check click on the top left and then About This Mac

then click on System Report, go to Software then Installations, click on Install Date twice to have

the most recent install listed first.

You could try downloading the combo update from here, https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2030?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US make sure your mac is connected to your router using a cabled connection,

and do not use the mac while it is downloading.

I would uncheck Automatically keep my mac up to date, if you are in the middle of an important task or project

and an update decides to start installing you could lose important data. Uncheck it, click on Advanced and set it to

automatically check for updates, this will inform you of anything available but not install. When you are ready you

can do the install of any new updates.
