For Apple Pencil (1st generation), which charging method theoretically can best protect battery life, or minimize damage to battery performance?

Charge Apple Pencil with iPad USB Power adapter (2.1A), or with iPhone USB Power adapter (1A), or just charge with iPad's Lightning Port?

iPad mini, iOS 13

The Apple Pencil charges quickest (about 10 minutes) using the Lightning port of the iPad. Ironically, when connected to an external charger, regardless of the charger wattage, the Pencil takes considerably longer to charge. When connected to an external charger, the Pencil severely limits its charge rate.

If leaving the Pencil in an external charging stand, charge rate is largely immaterial.

Battery lifespan is most significantly influenced by your charging habits. Never allow the Pencil to remain in a discharged (or very low charge) state - as doing so will result in rapid/early battery failure.

For the 1st gen Apple Pencil I would use the Apple power/charging adapter block.

Also, Amazon sells desktop charging docks for the 1st gen Apple Pencil which makes keeping the 1st gen Apple Pencil constantly charged up more convenient.

These charging docks use a cable that plugs into your Apple power/charge block as the source of power, also.

Best of Luck to You!
