Moving photos from my Mac book air late 2010 to external drive

That's pretty vague.
Just what are you trying to do?
Do you want to move selected photos or all of them?
Are they currently in Finder folders, an iPhoto library, or a Photos library?
Do you want them to be stored the same way on the external drive?
What trouble are you running into?
