Hot phone, facetime

My question is will my phone take damage from staying up on FaceTime for 9 hours while charging?And that its getting hot right now. Because my friend wanted to like stay on FaceTime up until we wake up but while I’m charging my phone and staying on FaceTime I feel the surface of my phone is hot like real hot. I don’t want to like disappoint my friend but yet cause damage to my phone it’s the only I got. My phone is an iPhone 7 yup pretty old. But I’m broke so got to deal with it
