Hello lailah224,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! I understand that the person you are talking to cannot hear you while using your AirPods on a FaceTime call.

If this is correct, I would begin with the following troubleshooting steps:

1 - Quit the FaceTime app on your iPhone following these steps: How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

2 - Unpair your AirPods by going to Settings > Bluetooth > tap on the information icon (the i in a circle) > Forget This Device.

3 - Restart your iPhone

4 - Reset your AirPods - You have already completed steps 1 and 2 when you unpaired your AirPods. Complete resetting them with steps 3 and 4.

5 - Make a standard phone call with your AirPods.

6 - Make a FaceTime call and see if there is any change.

If there are any issues being heard on the phone call as well as the FaceTime call, try using your AirPods with another Bluetooth device: Connect and use your AirPods and AirPods Pro

All the best!
