Lightning sd card reader not working

I have had this since 2018 and it has worked perfectly until now. I have the same camera and card.

I have tried the SD card with another lightning reader and that has imported my pictures, so it’s not the iPad.

I plug it in and don’t get the Import icon.

is it dead?

can I get a refund or do I have to buy another? They aren’t cheap and I bought a genuine Apple product.
