iPhone Step Count vs Apple Watch Step Count

Is there a way to disable the iPhone from tracking step counts and allowing only the Apple Watch to track steps? I know you can set the priority in sources under Steps in the Health app but my Summary page keeps showing the total steps from the iPhone and Apple Watch combined and quite honestly I don't care about the iPhone steps it counted because I mostly walk around with just my watch. This tends to interfere with some of my older apps that are pulling step counts directly from the Health app. The only way I've found to kind of avoid it is by going into the data sources for Steps and telling it to delete the phone step count data when it shows up.

Hey jlrez,

I hear that you're trying to turn the step count tracker off on your iPhone while you're using your Apple Watch. I'd be happy to help out.

You can turn Fitness Tracking off under Settings > Privacy > Motion & Fitness on the iPhone, and Health app > Sources > Devices > Apple Watch > Privacy Settings for the Apple Watch. If you're using a workout function, disabling this may affect functionality and accuracy:

Use the Health app on your iPhone or iPod touch

You can also calibrate your watch to effectively count steps to test:

Cheers!
