I realize this is weeks later but I would like an opinion on a preferred method of moving data from a 2007 Imac to an upgraded 2010 Imac . I have had a lot of Junk to delete before moving data.. Thanks in advance
Is the 2007 iMac still running?
I think putting the2007 iMac in Target Disk Mode would be best, then Migration assistant...

Yes , the 2007 is still running ok. I will look for the Thunderbolt or firewire, both seem to have a large horizontal slot with the symbol <---> above it , otherwise they have variations of the same.
Both iMacs should have Firewire, 2007 has both FW400 & FW800 with the Y symbol..
2011has FW800 only...
How did it end up for you?
went to High Sierra 10.13 and that seems to be working fine. though have not moved data from my old computer yet.
OK, good to hear. let us know if you need help with the data. :)
That looks similar but the newer is a 2010 Imac 11.2 so is the FW800 also on that
Yes, the 2010 iMacs have a FW800 port...
