Nightstand mode and push notifications

Hello,

I have noticed that when my watch is in Nightstand mode and on the charger, it will not receive push notifications from alarms set on iphone. The watch WILL receive push notifications at any other time, just NOT in the condition mentioned above. I just want to know if this is normal protocol. I know that I can set alarms on the watch itself but Im just curious if it is suppose to receive push alarms from iphone when in nightstand mode and charging.
