iPhone "pinged" to find my location???

Please help.

In the middle of civil litigation (matrimonial) and the opposition attorney blurted out "We can ping your phone to determine your EXACT location!"

Is this possible? I have several police officer friends who have reinforced that the POLICE follow a strict protocol with Verizon, ATT, etc for locating someone via pinging a phone. They further stated that it's illegal for anyone to try and locate someone by pinging a phone.

I receive multiple SMS messages on iPhone every day that are bogus. Some contain links, others do not. I DO NOT click on any links! But I've read online that a SMS message type 0 can run in the background and access your phone?
I run a VPN 24/7 on the phone.
iOS is updated to the latest. Phone is an 11 ProMax
Location services is turned OFF whenever possible

Can anyone use a service to ping a phone and determine exact location? Please help!

Not unless they do so through your cell service provider with a court order or they have your Apple ID and password. And no what you have about about SMS on an iPhone is not true. Plus GPS doesn't provide an exact location, it is good to around 30 - 40 feet.

I would say 30-40 feet is almost exact.

I've read numerous articles about using the "Kali" phone tracker to determine a user location by pinging. (evogame.net/tracker).

And for the record, no court order is required by police. But they do have to fax over a significant reason why they are pinging location.

Kali will work if you switch to an Android phone.

I would not consider 30 - 40 feet exact and that is the best you can get.

For the record whether a court order is required depends on the carrier and state. In my state all of the carriers require one with the exception of senior alerts.

And if you think you know all of this why are you asking?

I never claimed to know anything, only stated what I've read.

If someone is tracking you within 30-40 feet, I think they can find you easily enough especially if you're car is parked in the driveway or parking lot.

No need to comment if you're going to be snarky. I get enough of that from my ex on a daily basis.

Well, actually you did regarding location and court orders.

Okay, I’ve given you all the pertinent information. If you are in a downtown area it will fairly tough to locate you and accouracy will drop anyway. I think I’m beginning to side with your ex.
