Recurring reminders skipping future instances

I've got a few recurring reminders set up (some that are daily, some that are weekly, some that are every other week). I have them synced across my phone and my laptop. I have noticed several times recently that it will skip an instance, so if I mark one of the daily items complete today, it tells me it's not due until 2 days from now (it skips the next day). This has happened on many different reminders on several different schedules. Some are on shared lists, some are on lists only visible to me.

If it helps, I notice that lots of times when I turn on my laptop in the evening reminders that have already been cleared on my phone remind me in the notification center and don't automatically go away unless I clear the notifications or tell it to ignore them (which seems like a hassle that should auto-sync through iCloud).

Does anybody have any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, Focal.

If I understand your post correctly, your reminders are not syncing and sometimes do not properly notify you of recurring reminders. I’d like to help.

Follow the steps in this article:

If your iCloud Contacts, Calendars, or Reminders won’t sync

Let us know if that resolves this issue for you.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Take care.

Thanks A13_usr, but that's not really my issue.

My reminders do sync between all of my devices (along with calendars and contacts).

My main issue is that sometimes a daily reminder (that has not been completed by me) gets completed so that the next occurance shows up as tomorrow. So reminders is either skipping instances, or is marking reminders as complete when they are not.
