2011 iMac Panic

I have a 2011 iMac that is crashing about one time a day. There does not seem to be any consistent actions that trigger the crash.

Some changes to the iMac are below:

-20GB RAM (stock 4GB + 16GB from OWC)

-SSD conversion from OWC

-2600S CPU swap

-Nvidia 2100M swap

-Running Catalina

The most recent panic report is below (continued in Crash 1) and more are attached (additional available if necessary).

Could someone help identify what is causing this issue, and how it can be resolved. Is it due to the changes above, or is it due to a faulty logic board that needs to be replaced?

Looks for certain to be Video card related.

Have you blown the dust out of the intakes lately?

What temperatures does this App report?

This App can be used to speed up the fans, all my iMacs would be dead without it.

Never ever ever drop fan speeds below the speed that the Mac itself is calling for.

Thanks for the reply!

That will be disappointing if it is the gpu - I did get it off ebay (from a reputable dealer), but I really had no way to test it for functionality.

I did clean the fans as much as I could when I had it open last month.

The temps are attached - I have had Macs Fan Control installed since I got the machine, but it has been on auto.

I had a 2011 27" iMac with the AMD Radeon HD 6770M card and it crashed on me. Apple had a recall on it (up to 4 years of purchase) so got it replace free. It crashed again a couple of years later so in on a newer iMac.

Repairing the GPU probably isn't cost effective. I'd strip out the hard drives, recycle the unit and get a new one.

Good to know that 77°C is the target temp to avoid. I set the optical drive and hard drive fans to hit max at 70°C on the GPU heatsink - hopefully this helps.

It looks like logging isn't an option in MFC anymore (maybe the version I have [1.5.4 Free]?), but I did use the command line parameter to turn it on. Hopefully it will catch something going on during the next crash.

Thanks!

I'm glad I wasn't just overlooking and the option was still there!

I actually thought about not reinstalling the disc drive when I had the imac open - I guess I should have done that to let the ODD fan be even more effective! Something to keep in mind if turning up the fans doesn't stop the crashes.

If it continues like it has been I should have a useful log tomorrow when it crashes ha
