iphone not restoring

I was told by the advisor in the apple store that I should backup and restore my phone because i was having issues with my phone. I backed up my phone to a mac and now when i am trying to restore it, it got struck at something saying, "restore in process". It's been an hour or more but still the phone displays the same thing.
