How can I connect my iPad Pro 2018 to my MacBook Air 2015? I have tried using USB-C to USB cables but none seem to work. Is there another way to connects to my MacBook? Do Apple even sell their own USB-C to USB cable?

Yes. you will need a USB to USB cable yes. Apple does not make one of those however.
