I need to reset the admin password on a Mac with Mojave and with mobile accounts.
I have a rather sticky situation. The Mac in question was connected to Active Directory and currently has a handful of mobile accounts.
I have used to normal way of reseting a pasword (I rebooted into Recovery OS. I ran 'resetpassword' from Terminal). The twist here is with the mobile accounts. The resetpassword utility requires me to reset every account, not just one specific account. With local only accounts this would not be a problem. With the mobile accounts, the machine in question cannot connect to Active Directory any longer (it is not longer bound to the domain). Because of this, the password recovery refuses to change just one account.
I suspect I have no choice but to wipe the hard drive and start over. I would like to avoid this by selectively reseting the password for the local admin account.
