You cannot. A gift card can only have the value stated on the card if it has not been redeemed, or 0 once its been redeemed, There is no in between balance.
The only way to know if a card has not been redeemed, is to try to redeem it.
Once redeemed, the entirety of the card's value is transferred to the Apple ID it was redeemed on, and the gift card is then empty.
