i have recently updated my phone and i just noticed now that in the camera app and if i swipe right on my lock screen, the video option button is missing. i only have all the photo things a XS has and time lapse. i have no clue what happened.

Try powering the iPhone off and back on again. And to access the camera, you should be swiping from the right to left, not left to right. Video should be just to the left of Photo. I'm not aware of any setting that could disable just video.
