Apple pencil battery draining very fast

Hi,

I have a new iPad Pro 12.9 and and a new Apple Pencil gen. 2. When I disconnect the fully charged pencil from the iPad the pencil will drain to empty within 1 hour, I don't think that this is normal? I use the iPad mounted to a music stand, and when mounted to this I cannot connect the pencil to the iPad (due to the mounting brackets on the stand). So I need the pencil to work for at least 3-4 hours without being fastened to the iPad. Any tips?

Make a Genius Bar appointment to have the Pencil checked. It should be lasting much longer than that. Are you using it constantly during this hour? I can use mine sporadically during the day, and it will last me a couple of days at least. Let Apple examine the device and they will explain your options.

Something isn't right then. While the Pencil battery will drain when not in use, since it is always active, it should not drain that fast. Again, let Apple examine the Pencil.

Hi,

The pencil will drain even if I not use it at all. If I disconnect it from the Ipad and just place it on the table without using it, it drains very fast.
