turn raid drive to non-raid with single partition

I'm on Mac OS Catalina. I have an 8tb drive that I turned into a raid drive in two 4tb partitions. I deleted the raid and erased each individual drive, but I cant figure out how to remove the partitions. I've seen on some forums that you can click the minus button for the partitions to remove a partition, but that doesn't work in my case. They actually show up as two different drives.

How do I make the drive show up as 1 single drive with the 8tb as a single partition again?

(as you can see from the screenshot, Untitled and Untitled 2 are both on one hard drive. But they show up as 2 separate drives)

Sorry about that. AFAIK you cannot remove that partition using the Disk Utility GUI app. You would need to use the Terminal command line to make the drive appear blank like when it was new. The only way I know to destroy a partition to make the drive appear empty is by writing zeroes to the beginning of each drive using "dd" to destroy the drive's partition table. You've got to be very careful when using the command line as it is extremely easy to make a big mistake.

I'm not sure why you need to remove the partitions since you do need a partition to use the drive.
