These phones are advertised to be water resistant up to a half hour/ 2-3 meters or something like that. My husband has taken great care of it but he ran and sweat on his phone.... now we are being told it’s our problem! Is this something anyone has dealt with?

The depth and time ratings are based on testing under controlled laboratory conditions.
Water resistant is not the same as waterproof.
Liquid damage is not covered by the warranty.
And sweat has lots of salt in it making it caustic to an electronic device.
