Mac mini: max on ssd size OR RAM?

Silly question, but currently looking at mac mini and need to make decision : either i choose to have a 2TB SSD OR 32gb RAM (instead of 16).

i do audio (pro tools + cubase pro), some plug-ins out of the box through UA interface but some inside Pro Tools and Cubase. Eventually some soft instruments (such as Komplete).

Obviously, larger a SSD = better (some video works once in a while).

Question: if I opt for smaller SSD (1tb instead of 2), how reliable external HDD (or SSD) usb 3 (i don’t want to replace all my external hdd for ssd or TB !!....) - i also read that Apple brought some tricky stuff that may be problems for some stuff such as Native Instruments ??....) If i can rely on external drives, perhaps going for 32gb RAM would be the option ??....

It’s really a shame that a $3k machine could not be upgradable later.... And at that price tag, I’m aiming at something that will be usable for several years (i mean not 2-3 but 6-7-8....)

But unfortunately that $500 difference counts on my budget....

Mac mini, macOS 10.13
