Trying to download high sierra on my macbook air and getting This update requires mac OS version 10.13. Does anyone know how to get past this?

If the message says update, it sounds like you are trying to download an update rather than an upgrade.

Try it from here:

Get macOS High Sierra.

Naw, not damaged for real, it's just that you have an old copy already in Applications, there are 2 cures...


Disconnect from the Internet & set the Date back to 2014, then you can run the Install MacsOS High Sierra App in Applications, so expired Certificates are not expired.


Or... trash the Install MacsOS High Sierra.app in Applications then a new copy can be downloaded.

Sincere thanks for help! I did as you mentioned using second option....I could not find the link for the first High Sierra 10.13 but I did find HS10.13.6...Now I get, An error occurred while preparing installation, try running again. I have done this several times and I get the same error. Your thoughts? Also, I could not find a link with the pure & first release of 10.13. Your thoughts on both issues? As you know, it says that you must have 10.13 before you can upgrade to the Catalina version. Your thoughts on both?
