iMac display to MacBook Air as an external monitor

I have connected my MBA with a Thunderbolt cable to my iMac. But when I press CMD + F2 nothing happens.

I simply wish to use my MBA as an external monitor when working on my iMac.

Both machines run Catalina 10.15.3. The MBA is Retina 13-inch 2019 – and my iMac is Retina 27-inc 2017.

MacBook Air 13", macOS 10.13

Your iMac isn't supported Target Display Mode.

Supporting iMacs are, Late 2009 27inch iMac, Mid 2010 27inch iMac, and Mid 2011 to Mid 2014 27inch iMacs.
