i blocked someone I was furious with....calmed down and unblocked
i can messenger them on my iPhone but not my iPad.....why

Are you they still blocked on your iPad?
Settings > Messages > Blocked

Are you having this problem with the Apple Messages app? Or with the Facebook Messenger app? If it's the Facebook app, contact them for help.
You can message people even if you've blocked them so, that's not the issue. It's possible they have blocked you.
What happens when you try to message them?
