Select items from iCloud I want to keep downloaded on my desktop

I am uploading documents and desktop on icloud which is very useful because there are file that I don't use frequently and I am ok to download them when needed. At the same time there are files that I use very frequently and that I would like to keep both on icloud and on my desktop to be able to access them offline. Is it possible that there is no way to do that? It seems to be like a very basic tool.

It is fully automatic. The documents and data you are frequently using will stay locally, while documents you have not been using for quite some time will be candidates for removal, if more storage is needed.

Thanks for your answer Leonie, I recognize that is fully automated, my point is exactly that, I would like it to be also manual for some files that does not follow the rules of the algorithm. I think size has big impact and maybe using a file once a week is not considered enough to keep it my desktop while I would like to be able to right click a document and say "this stays, no matter what".
