I was doing some web searches and I clicked on a link and it said that my phone now had a virus and the setting symbol was there, I didn’t click anything else I closed the tab and deleted history but I don’t know what I should do to tell if it’s true?

It's not true, since there are no viruses which can be installed on an iPhone, you have successfully completed all of the steps to remove the "false" alert. In order to prevent a repeat false alert, I would recommend not using that link in the future.

It isn't true it is a scam. You did exactly what you should do and do no worry.
Phishing link to trick you out of your money and/or personal info. Unless you have jailbroken the phone, there are no known viruses for it in the wild.
