recover text messages

IS it possible to recover text messages from iCloud?? I just switched into a new iphone but didn't realize that I'd lose all previous texts on the old phone in the process. Thanks..

then you can do this Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

but if you sync to icloud read here Keep all your messages in iCloud - Apple Support
