Heart Rate Complication just an icon, no bpm number

In the watch face, the Heart Rate Complication doesn't have a number on it except when it is in a position to have a separate readout like the middle of the Infograph face (shown here). Unlike the dB reading, the date, the battery power, weather, UV (etc etc, almost everything else), it doesn't simply display the bpm number on the icon.

Right

So if I put the heart complication where the dB or battery complications are, it just shows the heart icon and never gets the bpm number on it. It becomes a dead icon with no live info.

Hello AlexSonne81,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that you need help with your Apple Watch. I am happy to help the best I can. Based on the screenshot you provided, it appears the layout you chose displays the heart rate above the Heart Rate icon. It is currently reading "73 BPM 4 MINUTES AGO".

Cheers!

Oh. This complication is kind of worthless unless it’s in a location with a large readout?

why wouldn’t it just put the bpm number in the small icon like the dB readout? lol

My bpm is probably much higher rn but I can’t tell unless I have it in the right spot or open the whole app. :)

Is there a good app that does this correctly as a complication that I can buy? Apple really dropped the ball violently on this one

Hello AlexSonne81 ,

It does not appear you are doing anything incorrectly. This is expected based on the layout you selected. Each watch face will look different and have different layouts.
