Pages Cut, Paste pop-up menu—how do I turn it off?
This is a pilot issue, not a Pages v8.2.1 issue, and there is no means to disable those secondary pop-up menus via the application. At some point, in the text selection process, you are dropping two fingers on the trackpad, or pressing on the right side of a mouse, and that is invoking the secondary menu.
I am using Pages v8.2.1 on Catalina 10.15.3. I can select text all day long, and apply keyboard shortcuts — without triggering the secondary menu. You can deselect the following item in Trackpad preferences, and then the only means of triggering the secondary menu in Pages is with control-click.
HI Pheckman,
Not a feature that I've seen (with my older version of Pages). Have you done an update of upgrade recently?
Assuming this is a new feature, the best place to look for an off switch would be in Pages Preferences. If it is happening in other application, you might look in the Keyboard section of System Preferences (and other sections if you fnd no switch there).

Barry
Until recently I was able (in Pages) to highlight text with my mouse and copy and paste it with keystrokes. Now, about half the time when I highlight text a menu pops up asking me what I want to do with it.* What I want is to turn off this unnecessary pop-up menu and use keystrokes directly on the highlighted text.

Hi pheckman,
How do your turn what off?
Regards,
Barry
VikingOSX, I think you’ve got it. Since I’ve been more careful when handling my mouse so that I don’t accidentally activate the right button, the pop-up hasn’t reappeared. Thank you,
You are welcome.
