Blocked iPhone x

Hello, I’ve recently brought the iPhone X (off Facebook) for $900, I have since then found out the phone has been blocked by Telstra,

possibly by the original owner, who I cannot contact.

Telstra aren’t any help really, I am currently without a phone due to all of this, my question is what can I do? Can I pay to get this unblock, maybe it’s under warranty? Or is there anything you can do? Kind regards Taylor.

We’re other users. Not Apple. We can’t help with this.

Apple seems unlikely to intervene in these disputes.

Assuming the seller is no longer available, then you seemingly got scammed.

Police and/or a lawyer would be your next step, assuming the seller is unresponsive, and is traceable.

Beyond the IMEI, there’s also commonly Activation Lock. If this iPhone also involves the Activation Lock, then this iPhone is effectively a lost or stolen device, and only the original purchaser with the purchase receipt and matching ID and a visit to Apple, or the user holding the password to the Apple ID account holding the lock, can release the theft-deterrent Activation Lock.

Apple will not have anything to do with an iPhone that has been blocked by a carrier. Now, if the device has been Activation Locked by the owner, Apple cannot get involved in that either. Are you seeing something on the screen of this device, or is this an IMEI blacklisted phone? No matter, you are going to have to deal with the seller, or the carrier. If the phone is blacklisted due to non-payment, then the carrier might take your money. If it is blacklisted because someone reported it stolen, then nothing else you can do, except turn it into the police. See if Facebook provides any buyer protection for a refund, otherwise you are out $900. The All Too Common SAD Reality of Buying … - Apple Community

The only people who can help you with this are Telstra if they blocked it. If it is due to non-payment you will need to ask them how much is owed on the phone and if they will let you pay it off. If it is also carrier locked to Telstra and you are wanting to use a different carrier you will need to find out what their unlock policy and if you qualify.

This is a user-to-user technical support site operated by Apple, there are some specialists that answer questions that are not answered within a 12 - 24 hour period but they also cannot help you with this. You may want to look at returning the iPhone and getting your money back.
