WiFi calling notification never goes away

I’ve been trying to help my wife get this annoying notification to stop popping up. Hitting cancel and enable doesn’t do anything. Going into settings and turning off calls from the iPhone doesn’t work. Power cycling and resetting the network connection doesn’t work. The only way that works is to turn on airplane mode, which is stupid.

Did you just activate the cellular on this iPad? It almost sounds like you have the wrong kind of SIM for the iPad, like it is a phone SIM and not a data only SIM. It is especially strange since your iPad does not have a phone number.

The only thing I find close to that in Apple documents is when I searched the second error screen you sent about joining a network. Wi-Fi Calling & Privacy - Apple Support It is just a privacy statement about wi-fi calling. I don't have a cellular iPad, so there is no way for me to test anything with that, but I don't recall ever seeing anything like that here before. You may be better off reaching out to Apple Support on this one. Sorry I couldn't help any further.

A secondary message comes up stating:

upgrade to WiFi calling?

When you join a network, information about the country where the network connection is made may be sent to your carrier for details like billing. For short code calls, the city will be sent for call routing purposes. You can change this in settings.

cancel/enable

once I select either option, the original message immediately pops up.
