Watch LTE S5 Not Receiving Text Messages From Android Phones Standalone

Can anyone tell me why the above is happening in LTE standalone mode ? I receive Imessages from iphones fine, but regular text messages do not come through. Very frustrating as a number of my friends and family have Android and the main reason for purchasing LTE watch is so I dont have to carry my phone (which when the phone is near the watch Android messages come through fine)

I have tried a reset of the watch and phone, but this did not help

I can make and receive calls fine in standalone and all the apps work, just the Android text message issue

My network is EE in the UK of which the watch was purchased through

Text messages from Android users should work just fine with the Watch on LTE, so long as the iPhone is still powered on and connected to the network. See the footnote from this support document, Use your Apple Watch without your iPhone nearby - Apple Support

To receive SMS, MMS, or push notifications from third-party apps on your cellular Apple Watch, your paired iPhone must be powered on and connected to Wi-Fi or cellular, but it doesn't need to be nearby. You also need to be signed in to iMessage on your iPhone.

Just to update the post it was a carrier issue, the technical dept at EE ran a few tests, did something with the network settings their end and all is fine now

While the eSIM for the Watch is supposed to be a clone of the iPhone and should receive without a problem, if you cannot get it to do that, contact your cellular carrier to ensure there is no problem with the Watch SIM receiving SMS. Since these are SMS, and are controlled by the carrier, they will need to troubleshoot this.
