I am unable to send email on my Mac, I can send on my iphone and ipad, the message says cannot send message using the server chart.net, was rejected by the server smtp.charter.net, should I call my internet provider or is this another problem

recently Bt made some changes /updated our account. since then we can receive and send email on iPhone but only receive on IMac. On the iMac we cannot send anything
