Shift modifier for capital letters, @, _ etc., has changed from left shift key to right shift key.
Have checked Settings > keyboard> input sources > British
Have tried restart/reset https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT1431
Any ideas, greatly appreciated.

Figured it out:
System preferences > keyboard > show keyboard and emoji and viewer in menu bar > click on icon in menu bar > show keyboard viewer.
The left Shift key is not functioning properly and only modifies to CAPs on the when holding down on the corner of the key.
A repair job.

You do not say what exact Mac /model /year /size /retina /touchbar is this
or what exact macOS you are currently running.

Either shift key should work for this function at all times -- they should be interchangeable.
What is happening with the one you say no longer does the job?
