I was doing a lot of work, I accidentally didn’t save and when I got back on the Mac it said recover files I clicked the negative option. What do I do to recover th work on word??

Once you express no interest in using Word’s recovery mechanism, Word deletes the recovery files and that option is no longer available.
If you use Time Machine, perhaps you can use one of its backups.
