I lost my phone

Hi to all kind souls;

i had recently lost my phone. as expected, once i realised it, its nowhere at sight.

i decided to log into my icloud and track my phone, however it was switched off and was in offline mode.

aftermath, i set the phone as lost mode in hope for the kind soul to call me. (spare phone)

however i waited till 9+ evening to no avail ( lost around 12+ noon)

out of panic, i decided to change my appleid password.

to my surprise, i no longer able to track my device and worst still, it located my spare phone instead.

now my main concern is; will that person able to view my documents and gallery despite the fact the phone itself needs pin code to access?

(since i can no longer erase all content from my icloud remotely)

furthermore, is it normal that my device will get removed from icloud once i change my appleid password? i had already lodged a police report but however im still quite worried about my phone content being shared or leaked.

can any kind soul advise me please?

respectfully;

Denny

Hey Dennyleee!

Since you changed your password, it disconnected the link your iPhone had to the Apple ID. Meaning, you would not be able to track it any more with Find My iPhone.

However, since you have a passcode, it would be safe. If someone finds your iPhone and tries to erase it to use it, they would still not be able to use it since it was placed in Lost Mode.

Regards.

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, Denny!

I understand your iPhone is lost and are now unable to track your iPhone after changing your password. I'd be happy to provide information to help you understand this.

Keep in mind, if your iPhone is placed in lost mode and has a passcode, your iPhone is safe:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is lost or stolen

Since you changed your Apple ID password, this would disconnect the lost iPhone until the time you're able to enter the password again.

I hope this clears things up.

Have a great day!

Hi A13_usr,

thank you for your kind feedback. but im still not quite understand the below portion;

"Since you changed your Apple ID password, this would disconnect the lost iPhone until the time you're able to enter the password again."

now i cant even view my device in my icloud, hence im not even sure whether is my phone still locked or still set as lost mode. the iphone itself do have its own 6 digits pincode. has been a week, still no update from law enforcement. kind of already gave up hope. but i just wanna be certain that the documents and gallery will not be able to access in.

do you mean after i changed my appleid password, the lost phone will no longer be able to used until i key in the appleid password again? actually im also wondering without the 6 digit pincode, will that person (theft) be able to unlock the phone? (reformat or etc?)

im just so worried.. thanks mate.

regards,

Denny
