Changing profile picture that appears in iMessage

I created a Memoji and I think it got set as my iMessage picture automatically (it didn’t show up on my contact card). Whenever the option to share my contact with others in iMessage appeared, I would share a contact with my Memoji as my picture. However I’ve realized I really don’t like how it looks and want to replace it with some type of image, but I don’t know how to do that. I changed my contact card photo and nothing happened, I deleted my Memoji on my iPhone and nothing happened, and I don’t even see any way to share an “updated” contact. Sending a contact card to everyone and/or asking them to change the picture for my number will just be awkward, so I’d appreciate a fix.

Hello,

Within Contacts > Tap your contact card > Edit > Tap on your image > Select your Memoji.

With iPadOS 13 you also have the option of sharing your Memoji with iMessage recipients. You can enable this in Settings > Messages.

I’m sorry but did you not read my post? I’m trying to get rid of my Memoji as my contact photo, and I already tried deleting my Memoji and changing the picture. My iPad is an Air 2, I only made the Memoji on my iPhone X and it got shared with my iPad. I went into Settings > Messages on my iPhone and nothing about sharing a Memoji was there. And yes it’s on the latest version

I am having a similar problem - when I go to messages and click the three dots, and select the Edit Name and Photo - it dumps me directly into the Create Your Memoji and starts flashing a rotating selection of memojis at me which I can only get out of by clicking Set Up Later In Messages. But when I go there, it takes me back to the exact same thing, no choices of selecting Edit or a photo, or toggling anything on or off.
