Upgrade program and cracked back

If the back of my phone is cracked will I be charged or dinged at the time of trade in (I did the yearly upgrade program with AppleCare+)? If not, I’ll just slap a case on in and wait the (almost) year I have til upgrade and if they will charge me anyway then I will pay the $99 for the repair now. Thanks!
