That setup (USB-C power adapter and USB-C to Lightning cable) can be used to charge any Apple device with a Lightning port. The charging circuits in the phone will control the charging current.


It's my understanding that the iPhone XR can "fast charge" with that setup, although it only had a standard USB-A to Lightning cable and 5W power adapter in the box.
