I have cleared history, emptied caches , reloaded Mac os Catalina version 10.15.3 Autoplay is set to never autoplay. This must be fixed because I get this Webpage using significant energy in Safari closing it will improve my mac or something like that It is because of multiple videos playing on yahoo. Also kills batteries. Please go to Yahoo.com and check it out I have three mac book pro's of different years and OS systems and they all are autoplaying yahoo and a few others as well. Hey Brianscrapple,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that Yahoo! is autoplaying regardless of the settings you have set for your computer.

It certainly sounds like you have the correct settings. I do want to go ahead and share the resource below with you just to make sure though. One thing to check out is "Block video for all websites" and see if adding Yahoo! there changes this behavior.

Stop autoplay videos in Safari on Mac

If you have all your settings correct, and this issue persists, let's test in safe mode. The resource below will walk you throug how to restarting safe mode, and even what to do if the behavior isn't present in safe mode.

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

Thanks again, and have a great day!

I HAVE FOUND THE FIX!!!!

Thank you for your reply. I have all ready done that. Except the safe mode.

This what I did to stop autoplay

First click on Apple in left upper corner. Then select System preferences. Then select Securely & Privacy.

In the screen select Privacy at the top if not highlighted all ready.

Then on left side scroll down till you see Full Disk Access and click on it. Look for Terminal in right window. Make sure the box next to it is checked. If it is not there you can add it by clicking the + button below. You might have to unlock the lock on the left side lower by clicking on it and entering your password to open it. Once Terminal is there and box is checked, Lock the lock and close screens.

Go to your applications folder or in finder and open Terminal. In terminal write or copy the following line and paste in to terminal.

defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeInternalDebugMenu 1

Press enter and close Terminal.

Shut down Safari and open it again and a new menu called Debug will appear next to help. Click on debug and Select Media Flags and click disallow inline video. And try that, If you are ok with the results you are all set

If videos are still autoplaying, Select Debug, Media Flags and click on Disable AVFoundation. That should stop them all.

If you want to hide Debug menu copy and paste the following.

                      defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeInternalDebugMenu 0

That will hide it.

I recommend that you leave Debug there, If you want to see the video you may have to uncheck both

Disable AVFoundation and Disallow inline video.

You should copy this and put it into notes or stickies so you have a copy.

That is working great But Apple is going to have to fix this so that HTML5 Video and other videos that can Autoplay can be stopped without having to do this.

Hope this works for you as it did for me. Thanks to all who have helped me
