Today I buy a new Ipad pro，when I connect it to my Dell monitor which is portrait mode.
there are 2 issues:
1. ipad has no voice，I do not know how to change the sounds output card.
2. the monitor screen is not portraits. as the attached.
To get portrait mode from the iPad to your Dell monitor, you can simply turn/rotate your iPad and use it Portrait mode rotation/orientation and it should appear correct on your Dell monitor.
For sound, you will need to invest in/purchase a wireless Bluetooth speakers or stereo pair of Bluetooth speakers to get iPad audio out of your iPad.

But I can set rotation on MAC --> System Preferences -> Displays. ( It works on mac)
Ipad pro only show the connection device, not have rotation setting option.
You may need special screen rotation software/firmware for that Dell monitor.
This is a Dell monitor issue and you need to reach out to Dell.
This is not a Apple/iPad issue.

you can simply turn/rotate your iPad : I rotated, but it's no use. And Direction never points up.
Monitor is : Dell P2319H.
