Keep your iphone with 4.0 ver and wait for 4.1 update.

No it's not released to the general public. It's released to Apple developers, those who are beta testers.
some people will have problems with any update. I didn't have any installing 4.0.1. Some people will also have problems with 4.1 when that comes out. That's software for you 🙂
This forum is full of these warnings for each and every update there has ever been.
