Read Lawrence Finch's summary of the case:

Please read the ENTIRE news story (https://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2020/03/02/business/bc-us-apple-batterygate-settlement.html) and you will know the answer. But to summarize:

  • This is a PROPOSED settlement of a class action suit.
  • Apple will set aside $310K to 500K in the PROPOSED settlement.
  • Under the PROPOSED settlement the original plaintiffs will get $3,500 each.
  • Under the PROPOSED settlement their lawyers will get $93 million.
  • The settlement has not been approved by the judge in the case, and until the judge approves it (or requires it to be modified) no one is getting anything.
  • It applies only to owners of the 6, 6S, 7 and SE
  • Eligibility is users who reside in the US and purchased their phones in the US, and who have experienced slowdowns due to battery degradation.
  • The $25 is an estimate, it could be more or less depending on how many claims are filed.
  • Once the settlement (or its modified version) is approved by the court a procedure will be published for filing claims.
