I was asked to disable "find my iphone" when I just updated to iOS 13.3.1 on my iPad, and got this message which is disturbing (says someone can erase or use my iPad without using my Apple ID and password). Seems very strange!! And how do I "re-enable" find my iPhone on my iPad? Or what do I need to do to be sure this warning is not valid?

I should have said "Find My iPad" -- the wording is specific to each device. Apple sometimes incorrectly uses the Find My iPhone term when referring to something other than an iPhone.
You can't disable or enable Find My from any device other than the device itself. I have never had any upgrade ask that it be turned off, but if you turn it back on, it is on for that device and you are protected.

On my iPad there is only a "Find my iPad" option after the iOS upgrade. My real concern is that this message implies that the disabling my iPhone that I had to do to install the upgrade (why? this doesn't make sense) means my iPad is vulnerable (this also doesn't make sense!).
Settings > [username] > Find My > Find My iPhone - on.
Thanks, that makes sense--I'll take the initial disabling request and subsequent warning message as another example that even mighty Apple has loose ends in their software.
