Compatibility of Apple TV 4K vs Apple TV HD (4th generation)

I recently received a 32 inches 1080p HD TV as a gift. Previously I owned a 720p HD TV. I already have the Apple TV HD 4th generation. I'm guessing if I bought the Apple TV 4K the only benefit I would receive is a faster processor & 1 GB RAM more? Since my TV can't display 4K resolution?

There would be no benefit to using the ATV 4K with a non 4K TV. However, if you have plans to get a 4K TV and want to watch 4K content in the future then it makes sense to buy a ATV 4K. This is what I did, I had a HD TV and got the ATV 4K and later upgraded my TV to a 4K unit, as a combination it's very nice.
