Logitech MX Master 3 - Switching between desktops

I have a Macbook Pro running Mac OS 10.15.3.

Overall the MX Master 3 works really well, but for some reason I am not able to switch between desktops using the gesture button. All the other gestures work, including if I remap sideways gestures to another function.

The problem is specific to changing desktops. I can still navigate normally through desktops using keyboard shortcuts or mission control,

Has anyone else had trouble switching desktops with the MX Master 3?

Thanks.

Brilliant, cannot thank you enough! Restoring defaults at "System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts -> Keyboard" didn't do it for me, but resetting "System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts -> Mission Control" did take care of it. Specifically, it appears that Logi Options expects the shortcuts for "Move Left a Space" and "Move Right a Space" to be ctrl-left arrow/ctrl-right arrow respectively. Logi Options allows you to customize gestures to map to a keystroke, so I suppose an alternative solution might have been to make things match up on that end, but haven't played with it.

Very much obliged for your reply--this was making me crazy!

Hi there - I did find a solution.

Basically you have to make sure that all your keyboard shortcuts are set to default. If you have made any changes then the logitech software can't execute the function.

For me, the mouse shortcut was more important than the keyboard shortcut, so I did the following:

System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts -> Keyboard -> Restore Defaults

Hope that helps.

I'm experiencing exactly the same thing: everything seems to work except the switch desktop gestures (it seems to treat the switch desktop gesture as a simple left arrow/right arrow). I created another user and it works fine there. Have checked every setting I can think of. I figure something else I'm running must be causing the problem, but I've tried disabling everything I can find and no luck. Extremely frustrating. If you ever figured out a solution, I'd be most grateful to hear about it. Thanks.

Hi talin3,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you’re having trouble using gesture buttons on your mouse. I’m happy to help.

To start, I suggest seeing if the issue persists in a different user account and in safe mode:

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac - Apple Support

If it does, make sure you’re following the steps for using your mouse from the manufacturer:

Should the issue persist, you’ll to reach out to Logitech for further troubleshooting.

Have a great day!

Thanks for your reply.

To answer your questions:

  • Yes, I followed the MX Master 3 guide that you linked.
  • Safe mode doesn't solve the problem but changes it. When in safe mode all gestures using the mouse are remapped to perform the same function as 'command + tab' normally does. Further complicating things, I cannot open the Logi Options app in safe mode as it gets stuck at the start up screen.
  • The mouse functions perfectly when using a different user. I've looked at all the obvious settings and ensured they are identical. But this option sounds like something worth pursuing.

Thanks.
