Exporting to PDF. And to Excel.

Hi, I am experiencing quite an annoying problem when working with Numbers and exporting long tables to PDF. Some rows get automatically smaller so the text in them appears as cut/imcomplete. The only way around I‘ve found is to set „Fit each sheet to a single page“. Then this doesn‘t cut the rows, but I end up with 3m long pdfs that are painful to print.

Same with exporting to Excel.

Is there a way to set „pages“ to print, like in Excel? Thank you.

Okay - starting with the basics...

Your signature attached to your original question in this thread suggests that you are using iOS11 on an iPad Pro. If you are using iOS11, first update to iPadOS13.

Next, ensure that you are running the latest version of Numbers for iPadOS - this is currently v5.2.1

When you have updated your iPad and Numbers Apps, you should be able to easily export your Numbers spreadsheet as a PDF. Try this Workflow...

With your Numbers spreadsheet open on-screen, tap the icon at the extreme top-left (circle with three dots)

From the menu, select Export > PDF

From the PDF Page Layout dialogue screen that appears, select Use Print Settings - then tap Export

The Share dialogue will open; select Save to Files

Navigate to the path that you wish to save your PDF file - then tap Save.

If the page layout is not to your liking, then you may need to invest in a suitable Print App - such as Readdle Printer Pro - which provides more flexibility in page layout.

You might find the Numbers User Guide for iPad to be helpful. Here is a link to the online version:

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/numbers-iphone/welcome/ios

You can also download the full User Guide in Apple Books - its free. Just Search for “Apple” to find all the device and Productivity App (Keynote, Numbers, Pages) User Guides.

I hope you find this to be helpful in resolving your issue.

Thank you!

Yes, I am surprised how limited the printing/exporting tools that Numbers offers is so limited. Like not allowing to set page splitters, etc. And then when printing, imported images will move around randomly and rows & columns dimensions modified without any control.

Thanks for the Readdle printer tip, though, i got it and it works much better already. Not to the full control that Excel offers but enough to have things done.
